Non-perishable food is always needed and welcomed in Open Pantry, Monson’s emergency and monthly food share program. All donations serve your neighbors living in Monson. Donations of non-perishable staple food items are especially appreciated: tuna fish or canned chicken, soups, canned fruit, cereal, canned beans, dry lentils, rice, pasta, side dishes such as rice pilaf or ramen noodles, spaghetti sauce or canned tomatoes, healthy kids’ snacks, etc., and low/no sugar and low/no salt options are encouraged.
Cash donations are also accepted, to help do something special for kids and couples, especially around the holidays.
The Unitarian Universalist Parish of Monson at 177 Main Street, across from the town gazebo and Subway, is proud to serve as a drop-off location for Open Pantry. Donations are received during any hours that we are open, including regular Sunday services, or please contact us to make special arrangements. The collection day is the first Wednesday following the third Sunday of every month, and so on every third Sunday we encourage people to give extra consideration those who may go hungry without their help.
